A picture representing the last couple of days...

We knew that these days would come - days where we faced sadness, frustration and overwhelmed feelings. Well, it happened this weekend. It was chock full of meeting new people, which is really a good thing, and we feel that given time, we will enjoy getting to know many of them at a deeper level. However, we were with groups of people straight through the weekend and by Sunday night, we were all exhausted! The emotions of missing people and longing to talk with someone who already knew us welled up on Sunday night. Then, when we went to bed that night, Bob sat down on the edge of the bed and it collapsed under him. We dragged it out of the way and slept on the mattress on the floor until we could figure out what to do with it.

The next day, the dividing screen that stands in our entryway blew over in a strong wind coming through the windows. The wood on the screen cracked and it's another piece of furniture that is now broken. The furniture in the house looks nice but is pretty cheaply made, so now we're a little nervous about sitting on the chairs!!

Trying to find a few things that we needed took many hours on Monday, and we succumbed to frustration over the inefficiency of life here. Not to mention, several of the places we needed to go are STILL closed for Chinese New Year. Come on - finish it up already!! :0) Of course, that is just the selfish frustration talking...

So, today, which is Wednesday, we've all got some perspective again, but the last couple of days weren't the best. We do know, though, that we ALL have those days, no matter where we live. And for the most part we're all doing well and adjusting and enjoying life here in Penang.

We just hope that the furniture holds up for 6 more months...

With a better perspective today,

Karin

Hello Thorne Family,

I haev read our blog and wanted to let you know that we think of you often and we are right there beside you praying and thinking of you. I know not physically, but we know that in your hearts and mind.

Do you ever get the bed fixed or are you still sleeping on just the mattress?

If there is anything that we can do to help out at all, please let me know. Borders and distance dont stop us.

Love the Anda family

bummer about your furniture karin.
virtual (hugz) for a hard couple of days. I'm sure it won't be long before I write something very similar to you.

(we are still waiting for people in China to come back from holidays for our visa information so I empathize with you on the 'shut down' that happens around Chinese New Year)
