Overwhelmingly Thankful for God's Provision

I have a great story to tell you!!

We are living in an apartment that is leased until July 31. We knew that it would be temporary and that we would need to find another place to live after the lease ran out. For a few weeks we 'half-heartedly' looked at some apartments - looking at what the agent/s would tell us about, but not anxious to find something immediately. About four weeks ago, Bob and I talked and decided that we had several months, that there was no need for us to be spending the time and energy looking right now, and that we would put our apartment hunting on hold and just wait and pray for God to lead us to the right home.

Two weeks ago, Bob was headed down the elevator early in the morning to buy some meat at the market. (Can I just say that he's a wonderful husband for doing that???) In the elevator he met up with a woman whom he had briefly met earlier. She asked if we had found a place to live, and Bob said that no, we hadn't.

As it happens, she is a realty agent, and she said that she had a place that she thought would be perfect for us. So he arranged for us to go with her later that day to look at it.

To say we were amazed is an understatement - it was a beautiful place with many of the features that we were hoping for. (but honestly, never thought we would find) However, there was no way that we could swing it on the budget we are given for our housing.

Then Catherine told us that the owner was a Christian man who lives in Canada and who wants someone who is involved in Christian ministry to rent his home.

She contacted him that night and told him our story and shared with him our blog address so he could 'meet' us. He immediately responded to her, telling her to "Rent to this family!!"

So, today we sign the Tenancy Agreement papers for a new home for our family. The owner has never lived in it and it's possible that we will be able to live in it as long as we are in Penang. After three moves in one year, that is nothing but a blessing!!

We are awed and humbled that God would provide for us in such an amazing way. The owner and his wife are being used by God to give us a home over and above what we could have asked or imagined.

Let me share a few photos with you!

This is a three story home, so no more elevators or underground parking either! The first floor is a kitchen and dining room; second floor is a living room and a bedroom; third floor is bedrooms.

Rachel posing in the living room.

Rachel posing in the kitchen. The door to the left leads to a tiny laundry room where we will put the washing machine and possibly a larger sink. We are looking for a cabinet that will work as a portable island that we can use for food preparation and serving space and can then be moved out of the way when not needed.

Three flights of stairs - good for exercise!! I'm glad they are wood instead of tile - white tile shows every bit of dust!!

The common area includes a pool, gym, reading room and a large banquet room.

Can't wait to host large potluck dinners here! What an amazing place!

We now need to furnish this home. This is a great time of year to do that - many people are moving at this time of year so we hope to hit some yard sales and will be reading all the 'for sale' posts up on the school bulletin boards.

We're so thankful that God has seen fit to allow us to live in this beautiful home, to use it to offer hospitality to others and to host guests in it as well.

Thankful in Penang,

Karin

I am so excited for you all. Your place is so beautiful. I especially like the common areas. That is awesome. What an exciting story to read about your new place and how it transpired. I am not at all surprised that God would take care of you this way, however I am in AWE of what he provided for you. God sure does have a lot planned for all of you and I can see it through your blogs and now your new place, and also through the many blessings. How exciting to see some of the people you have been able to connect with and build into their lives. Thank you for being so obedient, even in days where you feel discouraged, tired and restless. God bless you and I pray daily that God will give you just ENOUGH to sustain you richly and humbly. God bless. Thais
